To my Grove family,
This Coming Weekend
This weekend we are sharing the final message in our four-part Love Offering sermon series called, “Rise UP and Shine”. I am calling this week’s message, “Shine Bright Church”. If you will read Philippians 1:1-11, Romans 14:10 and 12, Luke 12:48, Deuteronomy 8:17-18, and 1 Chronicles 29:14, you will be ready for the message this weekend. Pastor Trevor Christmas will be preaching in the Sunday night service and his title is, “Investing in Glory”. We are both really excited and looking forward to preaching these messages. We hope to see you all there; don’t miss!
Christmas Schedule 2017
This year Christmas is on a Sunday and we learned a lot the last time Christmas fell on another Sunday. We had a service on Christmas day and it caused a lot of problems. It was low in attendance but the bigger issue was the lack of volunteers. I think we all know we can’t function at The Grove without our great volunteer teams, but on Christmas day it was very hard to recruit people to be here and we were woefully understaffed for the day. Because of this we are doing what many of the larger churches are doing (except with one Grove Christmas morning caveat).
This year all of our Christmas services will be on Christmas Eve, Saturday, December 24. We will have four services at 1:00, 3:00 (deaf interpretation at this service), 5:00, and 7:00 p.m. There will be children’s through sixth grade programming in all BUT the 7:00 p.m. service. The one Grove Christmas morning caveat is I am sending you a Christmas message/sermonette through email on Christmas morning so you can still have church on Christmas day. We are also going to add some thoughts and questions that you can use to discuss with your family if you’d like. Pastor Daniel is trying to set me up by a big fireplace, with a robe and slippers, as I share the message…but I doubt that is going to happen. We just want you to know well in advance of all the opportunities you will have for our Christmas services so you can make plans to be with your family and friends. This way we save our staff and volunteers and allow everyone to be home on Christmas morning.
Did you receive Tuesday’s Outreach Newsletter? It’s a recurring email packed full of updates on The Grove’s local and global Outreach goings-on, and how you can get involved! If you did not receive this newsletter, please look for it in your junk/spam email folder. If it’s not there, please email Taylor Maberry to be added to the list of recipients. Thanks!
Grove Golf Classic
Mark your calendars for the annual Grove Golf Classic on Saturday, December 3. The proceeds support the Men’s 2017 HANDS trek to Belize by providing funds for construction and community outreach projects in one of the most fatherless nations in the world. You don’t have to be any good at golf to enjoy this day and to support this amazing cause! Sign up here to golf. We also need tournament sponsors. There are many different levels of sponsorships available so for more information please email Pastor Andy at email@example.com.
If you cooked a turkey on behalf of the Thanksgiving dinner in Perris, please bring it to the church during Family Night tonight, November 16, or to Women’s Bible Study tomorrow, November 17. There will be a drop-off table at the north entrance by the Hub where you can return the cooked turkeys before or after the services. Thank you for your help with this.
