The Grove’s Weekly Message from Tom – Feb. 15, 2017

By February 17, 2017 November 19th, 2019 Tom's Weekly Email

To my Grove family,

Insanity of God Movie Night

Please note the correct time of the movie: February 17 at 6:30 p.m.

The Insanity of God movie is the true story of missionaries Nik and Ruth Ripken. After the death of their son, this ordinary couple journeys into the depths of the persecuted church, asking the question, “Is Jesus worth it?” Join the Ripkens as they tell the story of being taught by believers in persecution “how to follow Jesus, how to love Jesus, and how to walk with Him day by day even when it doesn’t make sense.” The film is produced by Lifeway and based on the best-selling book Insanity of God. Click here to watch a preview.

Please note that the Insanity of God movie depicts the current state of the persecuted church while leaving out graphic violence. Parents are encouraged to bring age-appropriate children (a suggested guideline is 12 years and older). Childcare will not be provided for this event. Popcorn will be provided for the first 500 people!

Weekend Message

This weekend we will continue our series, “Rise Up and Shine As Jesus Did”, and my message is “His Answer to Logic Was Love”. If you will read all of Matthew 14 you will be ready for the message this weekend. Pastor Trevor Christmas will be speaking from the same passage on Sunday night and he is calling his message, “Rise Up and Shine in the Moments of Impossibilities”. Erick Burgos will be teaching the same text as well in the Spanish service at 10:45 a.m. in the Chapel. The deaf service meets at theGrove Corner at 10:45 a.m. led by Pastor Larry Vollmar.

All Church Prayer and Worship Night

Join us as we RISE UP & SHINE IN PRAYER on Wednesday, March 1, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. As we continue this month to learn to love our neighbor, we want to gather together in prayer to seek God’s help in loving Him and loving others as He wills. We need Him to help us rise up and shine. Can you imagine what God will do through our prayer this year? You won’t want to miss this time of corporate worship and prayer. Children are invited to join us in service but programming will be available for infant through Kindergarten.

Drivers Needed

The Grove needs more drivers who are commercially licensed to drive our church 15-passenger vans. We need folks who can drive on Sundays for our runs to the Path of Life Shelter and to Perris. We also need drivers who can assist our ministries throughout the year with driving for events and trips. What is needed is a valid Class B license with a passenger transport endorsement and a valid medical certificate. If you would like to drive for The Grove, please contact Pastor Jim Gilbreth at or 951-571-9090 x 2230 to volunteer. Training is available if you are willing to get the license.

The Grove 5K Fun Run

Join us for a fun-filled day of running/walking in our inaugural event, TheGrove 5K Fun Run, on Saturday, April 1. We are asking all participants to dress up in costumes as we celebrate April Fool’s Day together and run/walk the 5K around our campus and surrounding land. This race will be over dirt trails, asphalt, and cement. It is truly a cross country event. We will have a one-mile loop designated for those who only want to do that. This a great family and community event. Start today and train for this 5K (3.1 miles). Pick up a walk-to-run training guide at the Welcome Counters and click here to sign up. If you have any questions, email Andy Gibeault at
