Joe Hobbs, Outreach Pastor
I became a Christian when I was a junior in high school by attending a winter church camp. I committed my life to Christ and accepted His forgiveness for my sins. Before that time I lived for myself and was alienated from God. Being a part of a local church in Riverside and Campus Crusade for Christ was a huge impact in my early Christian experience. It was through these experiences, I was taught the knowledge of the Bible, evangelism, discipleship, and experienced the fellowship of believers. It was through a mission’s conference (U.S. Center for World Evangelization, Pasadena, CA.) that I first determined a call to full-time ministry. Over the years that call has been confirmed as I have grown in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
My time in school (Bible college and Seminary) and working at Columbia Bible College and Seminary has been a period of growth in trusting and depending upon the Lord Jesus. I have learned to depend upon Him in daily living and to trust Him for the future.
After seminary, I became an Associate Pastor at Bible Fellowship of Riverside. I worked there for 5 years then headed for Japan as a church planter in Northern Japan. In 2000, I returned back to Riverside where I currently serve as the Outreach Pastor. I love the fact that I can be a part of “Being Changed by God to Reach All People.”
I am married to a wonderful wife, Donna, who is a second grade teacher at Woodcrest Christian Day School and have two sons. Joshua is currently serving in the US Navy and my son, Caleb, is attending California Baptist University.
My favorite sport is Ice Hockey and I enjoy playing golf weekly! I love to cook and have three recipe books!
Pray for the outreach local and global initiatives each year. That more and more people will come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
