RESIDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Grove Community Church Residency is a one to two year program that trains people to serve as a Church Planter, Lead Pastor in a church revitalization, or to be sent out as a Global Partner. Each resident will be provided with hands-on ministry experience, leadership development, and mentored discipleship.
Residents will spend 25 hours a week serving at The Grove. Residents will need to provide their own funding (through other part-time or full-time work). The Grove has partners at Chick-fil-A, Arcade Coffee Roasters, and Tilden-Coil Constructors who have offered to help provide a job that will work with your calendar at The Grove.
The Grove Resident:
Will work at The Grove a minimum of 25 hours a week
Will work 15 hours a week in a secular job of a Grove member’s business
Will serve on the Pastoral Team at The Grove and invited to all pastoral meetings
Will attend one Board Meeting a year
Will attend one Church Leadership Team meeting a year
Will speak once a month in a Grove ministry and will receive feedback from Dr. Dan Wilson, Tom Lance, Damon Horton, and Daniel Bishop
Will rotate serving in every ministry at The Grove each month, learning how ministry is done at The Grove.
Will raise money to be sent on a 2-month global outreach trip chosen by The Grove to help you see God’s heart for all people
Year one: 80 percent of residency is focused on serving and learning from ministries at The Grove. 20 Percent focused on future work.
Year two: 20 Percent of residency is focused on serving and learning from ministries at The Grove. 80 percent is focused on future work.
Will meet weekly with Dr. Dan Wilson who is the Lead person in charge of The Grove’s residency. Dr. Dan is a professor at California Baptist University in the school of Christian ministry. He is also a member and elder at The Grove Community Church.
REQUIREMENTS:
Meets the character qualifications of an overseer in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
Agrees with The Grove's Foundational Beliefs.
A faithful member of The Grove Community Church for at least 1 year or recommended by an affiliate church in the CMA/SBC.
Has received a Bachelor’s Degree in theological training or is enrolled in a Master’s program in Biblical studies.
Desires to be a Church Planter, Lead Pastor in a church revitalization, or a Global Partner.
